Lightweight Deflectometer in La Spezia Port
04. November 2016
The TERRATEST 4000 USB Light drop weight tester is now due to be used for underground and street construction works in the port of the ligurian town, La Spezia. “We will be using the light weight deflectometer in the construction of a container terminal.” explains Luca Battistini, CEO of Edilgroup SRL. “We are impressed by how simple the device is to use, and by the speed of the measurement results, this means we can carry out our load-capacity measurements ourselves, and don’t have to always wait for the soil test lab. The portable CARRELLO Dynamic Load Plate Test measuring system and the MILANO transport box are excellent additions, which enable us to carry out our measurements at any time on a larger surface area, without having to carry the device.” Battistini continued.
The container port on the Golf of La Spezia stretches across 575,000 m2 and is therefore one of the largest ports of the Ligurian Sea. It has a 3,500 km road network and a rail network of 17km. In 2014, around 484,000 passengers passed through the port and around 16 million tonnes of goods were shipped from there. Meanwhile, La Spezia has developed into an important cruise ship port, and is visited by many international shipping companies. More Information in Italian on www.piastradinamica.it.
